A week after India’s consul-general in the United States called for the ‘Israeli model’ in Kashmir, this event will contextualise the Indian occupation of Kashmir, the changing modes of Kashmiri resistance, and solidarity with this and other freedom struggles around the world.

Speakers:

Haris Zargar is a PhD researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in Hague, and a journalist for New Frame, a publication covering security, governance and politics in South Asia. He has previously worked for news organisations including the Press Trust of India and The Mint. He has an MA in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London.

Dr Waseem Yaqoob is a British Kashmiri academic who lectures on the history of political thought at Queen Mary University of London. He writes on the history of ideas about politics, economics and international order in the twentieth century. He is a member of Kashmir Solidarity Movement.
